Happy 250th Birthday to Tucson! That's right - Tucson is 250 years old! Tucson was founded on August 20th, 1775 at the request of King Charles III of Spain! The King wanted a more northern Presidio (Fort) in this area of New Spain.
In the 1800s Tucson's Birthday celebration was called the Feast of Saint Augustine. This was a week long celebration with drinking, gambling, bands and fireworks to celebrate our cities founding! Join me on the Downtown Tucson and El Presidio Walking Tour or on the Barrio Viejo and Historic Scott Avenue Walking Tour by Strolls and Stories Tours to learn how Tucson was founded. Hear how many national flags have flown over Tucson, learn of our 4,000 years of Native American History, and uncover how our Pioneer Founders lived. We learn of our early Business Leaders, stories of famous gun fighters, and uncover Tucson's Historic Architecture; including our mud adobe Sonoran Row Houses and mansion homes by the famous architect of the southwest, Henry Troast!
Tucson has a wealth of fascinating stories including Wild West Tales, the stories of our Pioneer Founders and early Business Leaders, and stories of the working class, plus stories of our local Native Americans. Scott, your tour guide, loves a good story, and really gets into the stories as he shares the historic tales of Tucson!
So - Happy 250th Birthday to Tucson and we hope to see you on a Guided Walking Tour by Storlls and Stories Tours to learn the history of Tucson and see our beautiful architecture!
