Most cities have a historic hotel, an art museum, a building or tower that offers a stunning view, a historic mansion that was once home to a city founder, and a long-time restaurant, but do these attractions have an engaging story and tour route that creates a memorable visit for customers? Every hotel has a guest room and lobby to show clients, most attractions have a group event area or offer group tours of the attraction, but does the story create a unique experience for your guests that they will be talking about for years to come?
When potential customers show up for a site visit from your Sales Team to book a group event, or when individual visitors sign up for a guided tour or narrated audio tour, it is important the route walked and the story that corresponds is engaging, unique, and memorable!
Need help developing this story and assembling the route? Strolls and Stories Tours is here to help for an affordable fee! I have a passion for uncovering the historic stories, fascinating tales, and my interesting tidbits, then stringing them together to create a memorable story that your guests will recall for years to come, as they think back on their vacation or visit to your attraction...OR will lead them to book a group event at your location!
My name is Scott Darlage, and I have many years of experience working as a Group Sales Manager and a Director of Sales at boutique hotels and conference resorts. One of my favorite aspects of the role was the Site Visit with a potential group client! I had my route perfected, with interesting stories along the way that related to the hotel decor and plant-life, and had incorporated a few historic stories and unique tidbits about the destination sprinkled in along the way. My enthusiasm for the destination and hotel would shine through as I shared these tales! We would end at a location with a stunning view where I would ask for the business...and I can assure you, I booked a lot of business!
My career has taken many turns, including five years owning and managing a mid century furniture & home decor store, where each vintage item had a story. I found it was the story that helped sell the product to my customers! That might be sharing memories of items with customers that my grandparents had around the house as I saw them looking at a particular item in the store...and my customers then sharing memories of their parents having a similar item. At times I would share the design inspiration or design story from the famous designer that had created the product, or I might share the story of where I had found the vintage furniture piece, which could be a memorable tale! When you're a vintage "picker" you definitely end up in some interesting places purchasing product! One thing was consistent, and that was engaging in story telling with my customers.
Currently I own my own Guided Walking Tour business in Tucson, Arizona, where I share the historic stories, fascinating tales, and my interesting tidbits, of the historic neighborhoods around Downtown Tucson! Some of the stories make my customers laugh, while other stories intrigue their curiosity, and still other stories are jaw dropping! At the end of the tour, I consistently hear that my customers appreciate my passion for Tucson, and the research that I have done to uncover the unique historic stories that I tell along the route. Â
I have an entertaining way of sharing Tucson's founding as a Spanish Colonial Presidio way back in 1775, and highlighting our 4,000 years of Native American History. We stroll past our Pioneer Founders mansion homes on Main Avenue, and hear the fascinating tales of their lives - one story happens to be a real hoot! I share tales of life in the lively Barrio Viejo, and we learn how our mud adobe Sonoran Row Houses were built for our harsh desert climate.  Plus, we see stunning historic buildings designed by the famous architect of the Southwest, Henry Trost, and locally distinguished architect Roy Place. Plus, let's not forget the tales of our western outlaws, including the capture of the Dillinger Gang here in Tucson...and so much more! Â
My tours are engaging and entertaining, and I would love to help you construct both a story and a tour route for your hotel or tourist attraction, that helps highlight your product and creates a memorable experience for your guests and potential group clients! For an affordable fee, I would enjoy engrossing myself in your destination and attraction to piece together an unforgettable story to set your business apart! Â
If hired, I can help uncover decor pieces that can be incorporated into your space to highlight unique aspects of your destination and attraction. We would incorporate or highlight existing flora and fauna that define your destination or region of the country, and I would research the history of your city or region to uncover the unique historic stories and fascinating tales of your destination to slide in along an engaging route of your hotel or attraction...a route that would end with a memorable crescendo! Once assembled and documented, I can then share the story and route with your staff, so they can put it to use creating unique experiences for your guests or potential group clients...thus leading to increased sales for your business!
